Student Use of Technology

Standards of Behavior:
All student users of the LOSDNet are expected to maintain respect and consideration for the personal material and legal
rights of others. They are additionally expected to use the LOSDNet in ways that are responsible and ethical.
When using the Internet through LOSDNet's connection, students are representatives of the Live Oak School District
and their respective school, and thus should behave in ways that reflect existing standards for behavior at their school.
Those same standards and rules that apply at school and in the classroom apply to the online world.
Acceptable Uses - A responsible user may:
• Use the Internet to research assigned classroom projects and acquire learning resources.
• Use the network and Internet to send email to other users.
• Use the Internet to explore other computer systems.
• Access approved shared resources over the network such as CD's, public files, etc.
Furthermore a responsible user will:
• Be polite, communicating clearly, concisely, and with respect and consideration for others.
• Use only appropriate language, and refrain from inappropriate or abusive language.
• Consult their teacher or supervisor for assistance if unsure of a situation.
• Maintain privacy, both theirs and others.
• Students shall keep personal account numbers, home addresses and telephone numbers private. They shall use the
system only under their • Use the network only in woawysn wachcicohu nstu npupmorbte itrs. smooth and continuous use by all.
• (live credit through citations for all work used. Information downloaded from the Internet may have a copyright O;
if so, students must respect the copyright and not copy the material without the written permission of the author.
• I !se the District's system responsibly and primarily for educational purposes.
• Not damage or interfere with the performance of District technology hardware, software, operating systems or
communications systems through an intentional act. Anv such act will he considered vandalism and will be
subject to school discipline and/or criminal or civil action.
